I believe FeatureCam was released sometime in September of I have not heard anything about a release. I checked updates. I couldn't get the help screen to display any text when I opened it.
All I saw was "What's new in FeatureCam ". So far FC looks much like what we've been using, haven't started using it for production yet though. Setting up the licenses and activating it is different but works just fine, updating is more automated, although I don't really like having 4 processes, or 'desktop apps' running in the background checking for updates.
Not sure how the license is going to work when I need to work at home, having the dongle is or was? Yes, the view cube is a big help in Inventor. I can imagine it would be helpful in Featurecam as well.
Legacy versions of Delcam products that pre-date this e. We received an email from Autodesk stating our order has been processed, since we haven't placed any orders with Autodesk we figured it was the new owners. Following instructions in the email we created an Autodesk account and it showed all the software we are entitled to, with links for downloading. After downloading we installed and activated one of our seats and we are working with it a little bit before moving it into production.
So far so good. BTW, the A app is handy for viewing solids and pdf's on a mobile device, if you ever need to do that. I have been using it for a while now through Delcam. I'm interested to see how Autodesk treats the users coming from Delcam. I have called both Delcam and my Autodesk distributor and have received no real answers as to how the Delcam user will move over to Autodesk except that I will receive and email about "migration".
When and how my current " a la carte" seats will transition to Autodesk's 3 tiered structure of pricing. Not a new customer, been using it for more than 2 years, I don't recall seeing a message about the transition, just the "Autodesk order Just spoke with our sales contact and he mentioned we will want to request a 'home' license so I can still work from home with the new software. Suppose we could stay on and continue to use the dongle, although the boss would like to avoid the cost of the software maintenance I would rather keep moving forward with new bells and whistles and getting old bugs fixed.
Perpetual liscenses will be sold until Jan Any current perpetual license can be upgrade for the difference in the current Autodesk pricing.
Autodesk will always err on upgrading. One of my dongles has 3dmx and solids but no machine sim or machine limits, tombstone, or turn-mill. Now I will be upgraded to Premium and gain those features for no extra cost. As I mentioned earlier, I will be slightly upgraded for free but my maintenance cost for that dongle will go u a few hundred dollars for that dongle as well.
